To be digitally wise is to know the difference between an elegant tool which enhances your life and helps you grow, and an illusion that imprisons you in a self-referencing, never-ending loop of your own worst nightmare.
If you’ve ever wondered whether:
big brother really is watching you,
the information you share online is secure,
the conversations you have in your home are private,
it’s ‘just you’;
then this workshop will help you make sense of the digital world we find ourselves in today.
And if you’ve ever asked:
how the search results you get are generated,
why your social media posts don’t get the attention they used to,
what happens when you click on a link in an email,
how to protect yourself from scammers and fraudsters,
how to make your online communications more private;
then this workshop will help you understand what’s going on and how to deal with it using practical hints, tips and advice.
So, by the end of our morning together you will:
know how big your digital footprint is and how to reduce its size
be able to avoid your most personal information being used in ways you disagree with
understand how to avoid being followed, tracked and traced online,
have the skills and knowledge to make your online activities more secure and private
make positive choices about the apps, services, tools and sites you use.
All this in a friendly, informal Q&A style conversation and workshop designed to answer your most pressing questions, together with tea, coffee, cake and biscuits to keep our strength up.
