Hello everyone, and here is the latest writing prompt for your delectation. If you are new and have never used a writing prompt, you cannot get this wrong, as their purpose is to help you exercise your creative writing muscles. Fiction, non-fiction, poetry, prose or even memoir are all great ways to make use of a prompt. Whether it’s a character or real, the only person who will see it is you, unless you choose to make more of it, as sometimes happens. They work because they allow you to escape your literary comfort zone to explore a different side of your internal creative genius. So dive in, try something new and above all, have fun.
Misty was up and out early, jogging through the centre of town, trying to clear her head from yet another night of worry and no sleep over the debts she had amassed.
One, she could rob the local bank; two, she could sell her body; three, she could do away with herself; four, she could give up and go back home to Mum and Dad’s ‘I told you so.’
Weighing each option carefully, she realised the best option was to sell her body. After all, it can’t hurt, can it? The worst that might happen was getting cold and embarrassed, and given everything she was juggling, those were consequences she was prepared to accept. She might even enjoy it, perhaps meeting her ‘Mr Right’.
The next day found at the local Art College signing up as a life model!
The Prompt
I promised I’d do something less murderous, and this week you have it. The question is, can you build on Misty’s new ‘career’ and the adventures she might have in a local art college as a model?
I have turned comments off again as I don’t want anyone to feel pressured by the writing prompts I share. The point of this prompt is to help you develop as a writer, not to help me as a publisher. You can, of course, click the like button if you want to show your appreciation. :-)
The Hysteria Writing Competition is in full swing for its eleventh year. This year, there is NO theme, so you can write about almost any subject under the sun (the exceptions are erotica and horror). As usual, there are categories for flash fiction, poetry and short stories. All short-listed entries will be published in the anthology, Hysteria 11, and category winners will be offered a publishing contract with Crystal Clear Books and a £75 cash prize.
